Ms. Nappy Hair

(source)

As a new transitioner I became curious of what my hair texture was like pre-relaxer. So I asked my mom, "what was my hair like before you relaxed it?" Her response "nappy." She said it with such simplicity, like what other answer should I have expected. I replied "nappy?" and her final response is "you know, kinky." I decided to just leave it at that, the best way to find out my texture is to just wait and see. *sigh* I'm so excited about going natural, finally something for myself. I know for sure that i'm going to be one of the boo-hooers when I do my actual big chop. Its okay though, i'm prepared, as prepared as I can be. I'm not in love with the straight hair look. When I did my last stretch to 12 weeks I was so excited about my new growth, there was so much! So i'm ready, whatever my hair texture is i'm sure I will love it. I have no choice its MINE!

My Favorite Youtube Natural Gal

Everyone meet Carmen (sheacocoaluv). She is by far my favorite youtuber. Carmen as well as her sisters are all natural divas. She's gorgeous as well as her hair. She is working it. I love her progress, she makes transitioning to natural look easy. Whenever I get frustrated with my transitioning hair I just visit her channel for a little inspiration. I can't wait to transition and rock my sexy TWA. I am too excited. If you haven't visited her channel please do, if you're not natural yet i'm sure she'll inspire you!

Joining the Blogger World

I decided to create this blog to document my new Healthy Hair Journey. I started my hair journey on almost 3 months ago on March 26, 2011. When I first started I had just taken out a sew in which left my hair dry, weak, and all around damaged. Lucky enough I was able to find Megan, (UloveMegz) on youtube, who then lead me to the K-I-S-S website. For those two things I am extremely greatful.

Megan and the K-I-S-S website combined have showed that together by spreading our knowledge we can get rid of the myth that "black hair does not and cannot grow." KISS has members that are both relaxed, and natural so don't be discouraged if you are one or the other.

So three months into my hair journey i've now decided to transition from relaxed to natural. I'm tired of relaxing my hair and i've begun to fall in love with my new growth. I'm ready to get to know my own texture and leave the creamy crack behind me.

Join me as I begin my new journey to relaxed hair, and your journey to healthy hair!
